Part of North Arkansas is under a Winter Storm Watch. North Arkansas will likely see some snow and wintry precipitation, although areas outside the watch could also see some winter weather. Hot Springs isn’t completely out of the woods yet from the potential of seeing some winter weather. I will continue to monitor the situation and update here as needed.
Saturday Showers #ARWX
There are some showers that’ll pass through the state on Saturday. Most of the severe stuff, and any wintry stuff, looks to be confined to North Arkansas. I’ll update here if conditions warrant a severe weather update.
Severe Weather Risk for Wednesday, Radar Going Down #ARWX
There’s a Severe Weather Risk for Arkansas on Wednesday. Hot Springs is in the “Marginal” risk which is lower than the eastern part of the state in a “Slight” risk. There is still going to be some heavy rain, thunder, lightning, and some severe weather. FutureCast is showing the bulk of the storms moving through around 11 AM to 1 PM (with some lighter rain a couple of hours earlier). The FutureCast map below is at noon Wednesday.
To make matters worse, the NWS is taking down the Little Rock Radar on Wednesday for maintenance, so we’ll all have to use other radar sites to monitor the severe weather situation. What lovely timing.
Chance of Storms for Wednesday #ARWX
There is a slight chance of storms on Wednesday, but the FutureCast models are currently putting the bulk of the storms in North Arkansas, with Central Arkansas having light to moderate rain. I’ll continue to monitor the situation and update as new information becomes available.
Severe Weather Slightly Diminishing, But Not Over #ARWX
The overall severe weather situation seems to be slightly diminishing and not quite as severe as we expected it to be tonight for the moment, but the overall severe weather event is not over. At a minimum, there’ll be heavy rain. lightning, and thunderstorms throughout the evening. It’s good to still remain weather aware. Here are a few radar maps including the 1 Hour FutureScan.

Tornado Watch for Much of Arkansas #ARWX
Much of Arkansas is under a Tornado Watch. Here’s a look at the current radar as well. I’ll continue to monitor the severe weather in case conditions worsen. While things haven’t been too severe yet, conditions could still ramp up before this is over.
Severe Weather Update for January 2, 2023 #ARWX
Heavy rain and lightning across Arkansas this afternoon for the severe weather occurring. We are under an Aerial Flood Watch. We’re not under any other Tornado-related alerts at the moment, and I’m not seeing any wind shear yet developing in the storms. Some areas are experiencing a little hail, but I haven’t see any yet here. It’s still a good idea to stay in today and monitor the weather in case conditions worsen, but at the moment, we’re seeing mostly heavy rain and lightning.
Severe Risk Upgraded to Enhanced #ARWX
The Severe Risk for Monday has been upgraded to Enhanced for Central Arkansas. I’ll continue to monitor the severe weather and post any updates here.
Severe Weather Potential for Monday #ARWX
Today we’ll continue to see some rain. We’ll likely see some severe weather on Monday as well. As conditions worsen, I’ll update here.
